91 Points - Jay Miller - The Wine Advocate "The 2004 Menguante Garnacha Seleccion raises the bar a bit. It spent 8 months in a mixture of used French and American oak. Dark ruby in color, it is a bit more sophisticated than the two previous wines with its complex nose of vanilla, smoke, cedar, red currants and kirsch. It also offers more structure with ripe tannins nicely concealed by generous quantities of red and blue fruits. There is very good concentration and depth through to the pure finish. Give this outstanding wine several years in bottle for further evolution and drink it over the following 6-8 years. Kudos to the Pablo family!"

Produced from 100% mencia. Joven is extremely dark red color and explosive aromas of spice, brier, and licorice. The juicy mouthfeel is supple and features burst of ripe fruit that carries through the finish.

Spanish for one thousand fields "Flavorful red wine, showing bright red fruit on the nose and cherry flavor through the palate. Fresh, lively, intense and elegant." -Winery
|
The Sydre "Doux" is an off-dry apple cider, with about 80 grams per liter of sugar, yet it is beautifully balanced. A Brut apple has but about 5-10 grams per liter, so it's drier than many Brut Champagnes!

A sommelier by training, in 1992 Eric took over his family's estate and orchards. His goal is to revolutionize the cider industry and bring it into restaurants, high-end retail and export markets. A close friend of his, Didier Dagueneau, the icon wine-maker in Pouilly-sur-Loire, has encouraged him down the path of producing ciders from apples and pears that are like no others. Ciders that make one draw comparisons to fine vintage wine. The core of Bordelet's estate is the 1.5 hectares of antique varietal apple and pear trees that are 40-50 years old. He plants only true varietal (non-hybrid, non-cross) trees, and the trees are balanced between sweet, bitter and sour varieties. Currently, he has 20 varieties of apples and 14 varieties of pears planted. The orchards are farmed organically and biodynamically, and Eric believes that this is the regimen which produces the best fruit for ciders. This is Bordelet's "Grand Cru" pear cider. The fruit source for this is a stand of 60 foot tall, 300 year old pear trees. This is a cider which can stand tall with fine champagne wines. It is only lightly filtered in order to preserve the texture and flavor of these minuscule pears.
